DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PLAN

PLAN:

• Keep everything you'll need in case of en evacuation in a bag that is easy to get so that in case of an emergency, you will be more prepared. There should be a set of clothes, some food that will be safe to eat even after a long period of time,  water, a source of light, and other important things.
• When evacuating, follow the officials that will be around to assist you. Do not question what they are doing because they know what they are doing is for the welfare of the residents 

OBJECTIVES:

• to be able to create an effective plan on how to prepare residents in case of evacuation
• to be able to raise the awareness of residents and;
• to inform the residents on proper ways to prepare for natural calamities (e.g. typhoons, earthquakes, etc.) 

TARGET AUDIENCE:

• Our target audience will be the barangay officials and the residents of Ayala Alabang. We want to inform the officials on ways to prepare for emergency situations and make residents more alert and aware of what may happen in case of calamities.

Disaster Prone Areas around the Barangay

DISASTER PRONE AREAS

Majority of the disaster prone areas are the parks and roads near the creeks. During the rainy season, sometimes the creeks overflow so the parks and roads become a bit flooded. Also, the two main roads, Acacia Avenue and Madrigal Avenue are also a big risk to disasters and accidents. Since the barangay is farthest from Laguna de Bay, it not that prone to floods, landslides and fires.

The whole barangay is at risk for being affected by earthquakes because of the Valley System Fault which is an active earthquake fault that can affect Metro Manila and surrounding provinces. The West Valley Fault line may add to the number of fault in the city of Muntinlupa which will create more damage to properties.

Influence of Geography

INFLUENCE OF GEOGRAPHY

The geography of the barangay affects the way the residents live in many ways. It affects how they choose to build their homes and what they need to watch out for. The barangay hardly experiences floods since it is situated far from Laguna de Bay unlike Brgy. Cupang. The good drainage/sewer system of the barangay also lessens the possibility of flooding in the areas. Although there are many creeks, they do not contribute to the flooding because it flows freely and they aren't clogged up with trash.

Disaster Report for 6-7-12

Due to the floods and heavy rains schools in the barangay we're called off at 12 noon. These rains were brought by the Southwest monsoon.

A spot inspection was done around the barangay at 8:30am, August 7 2012 by SC Nelson Lim and Mr. Bonifacio G. Arbalate. They spotted some areas that were affected by the heavy downpour and some places that need immediate repar such as the following:

• Collapsed creek wall of the Anahaw creek at the back of 141 Anahaw.
• Detached cable wire along Mango drive
• Loose cable wires tangled into branches and street signs at Atis corner Mango drive.
• Leaning leaves in front of 133 Batangas West (due to strong winds) and;
• An uneven MERALCO line along Boigainvilla corner Sanggumay drive that needs immediate repair.
