History

BARANGAY AYALA ALABANG

Brgy. Ayala Alabang is over 30 years old and is the most sought-after residential subdivision in Metro South because of its prime location, first-class facilities and easy accessibility to several business districts. In 1972, Ayala Corporation bought 420 hectares of land in Alabang from the Madrigal family. Ayala then made a proposal to the Madrigal family wherein instead of buying the offered land, it would be better to sell it to several people for real estate development in 1975 and it actually started happening the year after. Ayala Corporation has a lot of experience in real estate development and developed the barangay/village phase by phase. The public was offered Phase 1 in the year 1977. The first barangay chairman of Ayala Alabang was Don Enrique Zobel in 1981.

Now, Ayala Alabang is an official bird sactuary with over 60 known species of different birds that have found shelter in more then 9,000 fully grown trees all over the village.

It has an area of over 700 hectares and is divided into 7 districts which is so much more compared to before. The barangay started with only residents, Mr. & Mrs. Joselito Santos, Mr. & Mrs. Jose Escalante and Mr. Howard Newhard. Ayala Alabang used to be just a very small village in Muntinlupa City but grew to be one of the most sought-out one.

There are several schools, churches and a country club that a lot of non-residents enjoy visiting and attending as well. It started of with the Ayala Alabang Country Club which is said to be the biggest and most complete sports complex in South East Asia. Then the different schools were built such as De La Salle Santiago Zobel School and PAREF Woodrose School for Girls. Then after, the Alabang Commercial Center was built which was said to be the biggest planned commercial complex in the southernmost reaches of Metro Manila.

Ayala Alabang is really complete. Started small in 1976 and eventually became one very successful barangay.
